MyKey
is a programmable key system which allows certain settings, like maximum power or acceleration to be tailored to particular drivers. In particular, the system is designed for parents or guardians whose children have recently passed their driving tests and make use of a shared family car. The car is delivered with several keys. One remains the ‘Admin’ key, allowing settings to be made to other keys, which become programmed keys or ‘MyKeys’.

2015 Rating
About 2015 ratingIn 2015, a new full-width test is included and the total points for frontal impact protection are shared equally between this new test and the (unchanged) offset deformable impact. The side barrier test now uses a larger, heavier impactor and the side pole test is a tougher, oblique-angle impact. Both side impact tests make use of a new, more realistic dummy – WorldSID – to give a more accurate assessment of the protection provided in the tests.
There are no changes to Child Occupant Protection. The technical content of the Safety Assist section remains unchanged but the thresholds for three, four and five stars have all been raised. The pedestrian tests which used to assess the front edge of the bonnet now determine the protection offered to the upper part of the leg, at whatever location that corresponds to on the vehicle.
2015 assessments are significantly changed from previous years and star ratings should not be directly compared with earlier years.

2014 Rating
About 2014 ratingIn 2014, crash avoidance systems are included in the star rating. An assessment of AEB systems is included: low-speed, whiplash protection systems in Adult Occupant Protection and high-speed systems in Safety Assist. Safety Assist also includes Lane Support Systems.
ESC is no longer tested by Euro NCAP but points are awarded for compliance with EU legislation. There are also important changes to the way in which pedestrian testing is done, including more detailed analysis of the bumper and the front edge of the bonnet.
Greater weighting is given to Safety Assist in the calculation of the overall score and that of Adult Occupant Protection is reduced. Star ratings from 2014 contain more extensive technical content than those from previous years and should not be directly compared.

2012 Rating
About 2012 ratingCars are subjected to the following tests: as 2011 with nominal updates to test and assessment protocols.
Thresholds are significantly raised from 2011 levels in the area of Pedestrian Protection. Additionally, cars must have a higher overall score than in 2011 to get to four and five stars.
Star ratings from 2012 are more demanding than those from previous years, due to more stringent Pedestrian Protection requirements, and should not be directly compared.
