Based on dummy readings in the dynamic tests, the Tourneo Connect scored maximum points for its protection of the 1½ year infant. In the frontal test, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side impact, both dummies were properly contained by their restraints, minimising the likelihood of head contact with parts of the car interior. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. All of the child restraint types for which the car is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in the car,

The bumper scored maximum points for its protection of pedestrians' legs. However, the front edge of the bonnet was poor in most of the areas tested. The bonnet surface provided good or adequate protection in most areas, apart from the stiff windscreen pillars.

The Tourneo Connect has electronic stability control as standard and met Euro NCAP's test requirements. A driver-set speed-limitation device is available and got full marks for systems of that type. A seatbelt reminder is provided for the front seats but is not available for the rear seats.

The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings showed good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. Ford showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the side barrier test the Tourneo Connect scored maximum points with good protection of all body regions. In the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other body regions was good. The front seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash in the event of a rear-end collision.
