Head Impact 16.5 Pts
Pelvis Impact 1.6 Pts
Leg Impact 6.0 Pts
In May 2013, Skoda decided to discontinue the 'active' bonnet on the Octavia which had previously been standard equipment across EU27. Accordingly, the results presented here are updated to show the normal bonnet. Cars with the active bonnet (VINs before TMBBG7NE8D0040380) would also be rated as 5 stars but achieved a score of 30 points (82 percent) in pedestrian protection. Without the active bonnet, protection of the head was generally adequate, with good areas towards the centre of the bonnet surface and some poor regions around the windscreen pillars. The protection provided by the bumper to pedestrians' legs was good but the front edge of the bonnet provided marginal or poor protection to the pelvic area.

Manufacturers take care to ensure that their safety systems are effective for occupants of different sizes and for those sitting in different positions. However, the very best levels of protection can be achieved when the interaction between occupant and restraint systems is optimised. Several manufacturers have developed systems designed to allow a vehicle's protection systems to operate most effectively during an impact.
This technology was partly introduced in the Overall Rating since 2014 as part of AEB Car-to-Car.

or AEB is a system that firstly helps to avoid accidents by identifying critical situations early and warning the driver; and secondly reduces the severity of crashes which cannot be avoided by lowering the speed of collision. In some cases, it prepares restraint systems for impact and applies the brakes of the vehicle.
This technology was introduced in the Overall Rating in 2014.

Lane Support Systems can assist and warn you when you unintentionally leave the road lane. Sometimes a moment of inattention is enough to make your vehicle stray from its lane. The systems continuously monitors the position of the vehicle in the road lane: Lane Departure Warning warns you if the car unintentionally wanders from the path; Lane Keeping Support helps you to correct the course of your car.
This technology was introduced in the Overall Rating in 2014.

Multi Collision Brake
is a system that automatically applies the brakes following a collision to prevent or mitigate any subsequent impacts
MyKey
is a programmable key system which allows certain settings, like maximum power or acceleration to be tailored to particular drivers. In particular, the system is designed for parents or guardians whose children have recently passed their driving tests and make use of a shared family car. The car is delivered with several keys. One remains the ‘Admin’ key, allowing settings to be made to other keys, which become programmed keys or ‘MyKeys’.
