In the offset frontal test, protection of the neck of the 10 year dummy was rated as weak, as was that of the chest of the 6 year dummy, based on data recorded by the dummies. In the side barrier test, protection of the chest of the 10 year dummy was poor, based on dummy readings of chest deceleration. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. Cars from VIN JTDKGNEC60N317420 have revised markings for the top-tethers. All restraint types for which the Aygo is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in the car.

The protection provided to the head of a struck pedestrian was predominantly adequate or marginal on the bonnet surface, with poor results recorded along the base of the windscreen and on the stiff windscreen pillars. The protection provided to the pelvis was good in some areas and marginal in others, while the bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs. The autonomous emergency braking system works only for other cars and does not detect pedestrians.

A seatbelt reminder is standard for the front and rear seats. The autonomous emergency braking system is part of the option pack. In tests of its performance at highway speeds, the system performed well, with collisions avoided or mitigated at in most test scenarios. A lane departure warning system is also part of the optional safety pack.

The passenger compartment of the Aygo remained stable in the frontal offset test. Although dummy readings were good for the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger, structures in the dashboard were thought to present a risk to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions, so the protection provided to this part of the body was downgraded to marginal. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the head, neck and chest of the rear passenger dummy was rated as poor and no points were scored for this dummy. Protection of the driver dummy in the same test was good or adequate. In both the side barrier impact and the more severe side pole test, protection of all critical parts of the body was good, and the Aygo scored maximum points. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good whiplash protection in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated marginal whiplash protection. The Aygo has an autonomous emergency braking system as part of an option pack. In tests of its functionality at the low speeds at which many whiplash injuries are caused, the system performed well, with collisions avoided or mitigated at all test speeds.
